Ministries

Take a look at the different ministries which you can get involved in here at St. Rose!

Lectors assist in the proclamation of Sacred Scripture during the Liturgy.  A lector must have a passion for Scripture and proficient in public speaking. Training is required and will be provided for those who would like to serve in this ministry.

Altar Servers assist the priest and deacon in the celebration of Sunday Mass, funerals, weddings and other liturgies. Altar Serves range in age from 4th grade up to college age. Adult servers are used sometimes for weekdays and funeral masses. Training is required and will be provided for those who would like to serve in this ministry.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist with the distribution of the Eucharist at Masses when the amount of people to receive requires. They must be 18 years of age, have received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Catholic Church and attend mass regularly even when not scheduled. Training is required and will be provided for those who would like to serve in this ministry.

Extraordinary Ministers for the homebound visit and bring Holy Communion to those in need. The duties of an Extraordinary Minister for the Homebound may also include: phone calls or writing notes and or cards and staying connected with our homebound parishioners.

GROW (grades K-5 family faith formation) Facilitators serve to aid and assist the GROW Coordinator at the Sunday bi-monthly GROW meetings (11:30-1pm). Grow facilitator works with the kids to lead activities and teachings related to the lessons taught to them by their parents each month. The model is such that a facilitator is not a traditional Catechist, but rather, a member of the community who accompanies the families of our parish in teaching their children the faith. The duties of a GROW facilitator would include:

  • Set up/clean up
  • Leading the GROW children in activities/games.
  • Assisting Reception Committee with food preparation

Edge (faith formation/confirmation prep for grades 6-8) Core Members serve to aid and assist the youth minister at the Wednesday bi-monthly Edge nights (7-8:30pm). The duties for an Edge Core Member include:

  • set up/clean up
  • leading a small group
  • helping to run the games/activities.

LIFETEEN (high school youth group) Core Members serve to aid and assist the youth minister at the weekly Sunday evening Life Nights (7-8:30pm). The duties for a LIFETEEN Core Member include:

  • Set up/clean up,
  • Leading a small group
  • Helping to run the games/activities.

Eucharistic Guardians serve to keep watch of our Eucharistic Lord for one hour during monthly First Friday Adoration. The monthly sign up can be found on our parish website stroseny.org

The Reception Committee serves to plan, decorate, and provide food for parish events and/or funeral receptions. The duties for this committee include:

  • Preparing and/or purchasing food
  • Decorating for the event
  • Staffing the event.

The Gardening Committee serves to plant and maintain the landscaping. The duties for this committee include: watering, deadheading, weed whacking, weeding, trimming the bushes, edging, mulching, separating plants, and Spring/Fall clean-up.

The Men’s Group serves to provide an opportunity for prayer, formation and fellowship for the men within our St. Rose community. The Men’s Group currently meets on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm via Zoom.
